Interaction Space of the 'Virtual IT Workplace' (IS-VIT)
Increasingly nowadays people use technology to help them communicate with one another. Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) such as video-conferencing, virtual reality, internet, have become an important resource that brings people together even when they are miles apart. However, conversations in cyber-space are not as easy or natural as they are face to face. This is because technology channels do not carry all the information people need to communicate effectively.
Sustainable Accommodation in the New Economy (SANE)
The SANE project (2001 - 2004) was funded under the EU F5 Information Society Technologies (IST-2000-25257). iCOM research team was responsible for the development and validation of the Human Environment Framework to contribute to the design of a sustainable workplace. »
iCOM ICT researchers are engaged in pioneering work on the understanding of the complex relationship between people and technology, sharing their knowledge and expertise with the network of “Friends of iCOM ICT”. This collaboration plays a major role in the growth of the inter-disciplinary Information Systems programmes and in the development of the Collaborative Learning Laboratories that provide students with real experience of being in virtual and cyber worlds.
